Stéphane Carel was born 1961 in Choisi-le-Roi. He was trained and worked as a graphic designer in agencies before he devoted himself exclusively to sculpture and painting after 1991.Both sculpture and painting revolves around human evolution. His characters seem to put into question the sense of our lives, actions, and love – his figures appear to rise from a dark world, driven by an exceeding force. His sketches are precursors to larger formats.
